Manager, Digital Marketing & Communications

Position Overview 

Experiences Canada is a national registered charity that helps young Canadians explore their country in ways they never may have imagined through reciprocal exchanges, forums, conferences, and other opportunities to connect with one another. The Manager (Manager), Digital Marketing and Communications is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on a range of digital marketing and outreach campaigns that will enhance our online presence and program reach. The role also ensures Experiences Canada is well serviced regarding its communications needs. Working closely with internal leadership and our program team, you’ll report to the Director, Marketing and Communications, and use your design acumen and extensive knowledge of SEO, social media, and video marketing tactics to accelerate traffic, reach target audiences, and increase engagement. The position currently has one direct report.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

The Manager performs a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

 

Digital Media and Web Management

  • Manage editing, design, and uploads to Experiences Canada’s website, including Talent LMS.
  • Oversee regular updates, maintenance, and page creation.
  • Provide design and technical support for online webinars and troubleshoot participant issues.
  • Develop and distribute email communications and targeted email campaigns.

 

Social Media and Analytics

  • Collaborate with the Marcomm team to maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar.
  • Manage and monitor our social media accounts and lead a strategy to enhance Linkedin profile.
  • Help plan and execute integrated digital marketing campaigns and manage marketing strategy and promotions across paid, earned and owned social media.
  • Use analytics, usability standards and SEO best practices to inform decision-making, planning and execution of web and digital properties and campaigns to drive traffic to our website and increase engagement and conversion among website visitors.
  • Measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
  • Prepare regular social media and website analytic reports and produce data-based reports for senior management and the Board of Directors, as needed.

 

Content Development, Design, and Brand Management

  • Participate in planning, designing, and laying out marketing products, internal communications, and promotional materials.
  • Create social media content (shareable graphics, posts, reels) and other required digital products, using Canva, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Support curation of our video content and provide editorial oversight.
  • Ensure consistent branding and style across all media and materials.
  • Support the Director in developing and curating content for a range of audiences, including blogs, media releases, and feature profiles.
  • Organize and manage communication files, photos, and video inventory.

 

Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to plan and ensure product or campaign deliveries are on time and on budget.
  • Provide regular updates to Director and summary reports as needed for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Respond to general inquiries and redirect as needed.

 

Events and Campaigns

  • Support the logistic and materials preparation for Experiences Canada’s events (youth forums, PD conferences) as well as the team’s readiness for public facing outreach – such as conferences and external meetings.
  • Lead the design and launch of new programs through marketing collateral
  • Support the Director in annual digital fundraising campaigns to extend audience reach and raise revenues.
  • Collaborate with senior management to design fundraising materials such as sponsor packages, program promotional documents, pitch decks and more.

 

Required Qualifications and Experiences 

  • Significant/relevant experience in digital marketing and design field.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Superior grasp of digital marketing concepts, best practices, and measurement.
  • Proficiency in marketing software, including but not limited to Google Analytics4, paid search (Google Ads, Facebook Ads), HTML, SEO, social (paid and organic) and WordPress.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software and tools: Adobe Creative Pro and Canva.
  • Ability to produce multimedia content, including video production and editing.
  • Experience with content management systems such as Salesforce, analytics tools, social media platforms, marketing automation (i.e. Campaign Monitor), email marketing and collaborative project management platforms such as Asana.
  • Strong analytics background with the ability to leverage understanding of real-time data, overall brand goals and opportunities to A/B test, optimize, and make in-flight campaign decisions to improve campaign performance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to execution, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities

 

Desired Skills

  • Understanding of the not-for-profit sector particularly related to youth programming
  • Demonstrated achievements in project management and digital marketing
  • Experience as a direct report and ability to provide management direction for a small team as well as summer students
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset

 

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work requiring weekly in-person days in Ottawa office
  • Entrepreneurial, fast-paced, collegial team-based approach
  • Some travel may be required within Canada

 

Compensation: Range of $60-78k annum.

  • Experiences Canada is in Ottawa. Employees are currently working on a hybrid plan with 2-3 days each week spent in the office.

Youth Leaders

Then apply today to become a Youth Leader for Experiences Canada’s upcoming National Youth Forum on Reconciliation and put yourself at the forefront of this amazing youth-led educational program.

 

Experiences Canada’s National Youth Forum brings together youth ages 15-18 from across Canada for a weeklong, experiential learning on Reconciliation (July 3-7, 2024), supported by four foundational building webinars (April 9, 10, 16, and 17). Participants will explore a number of themes and topics around Reconciliation, led by Indigenous entrepreneurs, leaders, Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and residential school Survivors.

 

Experiences Canada is seeking 10 youth leaders, ages 21-30 to help support our 2024 program. As a Youth Leader, you will be assigned a small cohort of youth and support them throughout the series of four virtual webinars.  You will attend meetings with your fellow Youth Leaders to discuss roles and responsibilities with Experiences Canada staff, and you will ensure that youth are engaged during the webinars and complete their assigned tasks.  Youth Leaders will hold regular check in with their assigned groups to review topics. During the webinar series Youth Leaders will welcome speakers, lead breakout sessions, and provide support where needed.

 

In addition to providing virtual support, as a Youth Leader you will travel to Ottawa from July 2-8, 2024.  While in Ottawa, you will chaperone and mentor youth during the in-person forum on Reconciliation. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the city, and it will be your responsibility to escort them around and help foster a safe and friendly environment for all. Youth participants will be tasked with creating and recording a podcast that will summarize the four webinars and in-person activities, while sharing their reflections on Reconciliation. You will play a key role in helping youth develop content and record their podcast, organize, and facilitate the webinars/workshops, facilitate conversations/reflection, and provide support for group members.

 

This is a unique opportunity for you to expand your network and gain valuable experience in youth education, event management, communications, team building, and group facilitation.

 

Eligibility 

  • Must be a Canadian citizen
  • Must be between the ages of 21 and 30 at the time of the project (July 3-7, 2024)
  • Must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent education
  • Must be able to provide a clear police record and vulnerable sector check
  • Must agree to abide by a code of conduct throughout the project period
  • Must be available to complete all scheduled training sessions in the lead up to the Forum

Selection Criteria

Experiences Canada is seeking to develop a team of Youth Leaders that reflects the regional, linguistic, and cultural diversity of the country. Experiences Canada will use the following selection criteria to evaluate all applications:

  • Knowledge, understanding and interest in Indigenous culture and history
  • Demonstrated interest in diversity, inclusion, advocacy and allyship
  • Experience working with children and youth in volunteer or paid capacity
  • Demonstrated youth leadership qualities, ability to work in teams
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

 

Commitment and Compensation

Youth Leaders will be required to make a commitment to be in Ottawa to support the Forum between July 2 and July 8, 2024. They are also required to support youth prior to the webinar series (April 9, 10, 16 and 17) to prep and plan for the Forum. This includes training sessions for Youth Leaders in advance of the Youth Forum. All travel, accommodation, and meal expenses for the Forum will be provided by Experiences Canada and its partners. In addition, each Youth Leader will receive a cash honorarium of $1000.00 at the completion of the project.

Youth Exchange Program Coordinator

Position Overview 

 

Reporting to the Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Experiences Canada’s Youth Exchanges program. They will work as part of a small, dedicated team and communicate directly with teachers, youth group leaders, exchange participants and their parents regarding all steps including registration, travel, paperwork and preparation, general inquiries and trouble-shooting with our online learning platforms. This bilingual position requires strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills along with experience with data entry. Experience with CRM (Salesforce) is an asset. 

 

The Youth Exchanges program is Experiences Canada’s keystone program. It offers reciprocal exchanges within Canada for groups of youth, between the ages of 12 and 18 from any region of the country. The groups are paired according to their ages and interests and each pair hosts their “twin” in their hometown. Participants play an active role in planning the exchange by communicating regularly with their twin, doing research on the community that they will visit, and participating in the planning, themes and activities, and fundraising.

Main Responsibilities 

 

The main duties and responsibilities of the Youth Exchange Program Coordinator include 

 

Online & Data 

  • Responsible for reviewing and entering exchange applications into Salesforce, and ensuring all fields and forms involved with the exchange application process are working efficiently 
  • Responsible for the overall data entry of exchange projects 
  • Enters all budget related costs, collects invoices, and reconciles program files 
  • Twins eligible exchange groups, and manages all their communications pre, during and post travel 
  • Connects group organizers to the e-learning platform modules and information, and assists with connection queries when required 
  • Responsible for the maintenance, customization and updating of exchange guides, forms and modules 

 

Administration 

  • Ensures all documents are finalized and saved appropriately in Salesforce and the shared drive 
  • Assists with the preparation of exchange documents (pre, during and post) using Microsoft Suite software e.g. Word, PowerPoint, DropBox, and Adobe Pro Acrobat 
  • Updates and edits documents in English and French to reflect program changes and revised health and safety guidelines 

 

Communication 

  • Collaborates with group organizers and other stakeholders such as parents to review program objectives and schedules 
  • Liaises with travel agency to discuss budget and plan travel arrangements 
  • Acts as primary contact with group organizers and parents during entire exchange, ensures follow-up where necessary 
  • Assist group organizers, parents and youth in submitting exchange projects 
  • Participates in conferences as a representative of Experiences Canada, and presents information sessions and workshops about the program as required 
  • Staffs the emergency cell phone (to support groups in transit) according to a shared timetable 
  • Responds to general inquiries and prepares regular written correspondence on a range of topics 
  • Drives and supports a comprehensive outreach strategy to recruit new groups 
  • Collaborates with team members from other departments as needed such as Communications and Finance, and joins in all staff weekly meetings 
  • Provides regular (weekly) Exchanges target updates and intermittent progress reports to the Senior Manager 

 

Required Skills

Compensation

 

Will be commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $48k to $60k with competitive benefits package, RRSP contribution, and summer hours.
